Got a write up in the Melbourne Weekly today as better Chinese Food than Hong Kong. Think this is pushing it a bit - but never been to Hong Kong so maybe the food isn't that great over there ?
Food: 9/10 - Was excellent quality. The Peking Duck was superb, the green veges crisp and tasty and the Szechuan Eye Fillet almost unbelievably good. Serves were medium in size and quite exy.
Service 9.5/10 - What a surprise - got waitered on by the ex-owner of Kingdom in Tooronga Village (I think his name is Chee ?) that closed when they did that stupid redevelopment of the horrible Coles about 2 years ago. His servcie included recommendations for dishes as well as all around spot on servcei.
Ambience 8/10 - Nice and open, you don't hit the table behind you when you slide your chair back. Very open, but also well spread out, so you can't here other peoples conversations. Not really the place for a romantic evening - but I've been married for about 450 years so not an issue here.
Value 4 Money 5.5/10 - Cost about $140 for the 4 of us - BYO helps, but meals are a bit expensive i.e. 4 serves of Peking chicken was $24, so $6 for two bites is pushing it a bit. Good for special occasions or rich people..
Overall 7/10 -Only let down by the price - but nowhere near as exy as say a Vue De Monde, but my reviews are from a family viewpoint and Gillard insists on taking a ridiculous amount of my hard earned and giving it to new immigrants, people who don't work and fringe groups, so I need to not spend too much of what I have leftover if I want to eat when I retire.
